Antonio Terceiro 1e037c42cd Makefile: allow passing REBAR and PREFIX via environment 
This allows trivial distro packaging by just settting REBAR and PREFIX
as environment variables in build scripts, and letting packaging helpers
handle make/make clean/make install on their own.

For building official Debian packages we can't have an embedded copy of
rebar which is already packaged on its own in Debian.

Suraj N. Kurapati 65d3af694b Makefile: shorten tip about Unicode embedding time 
The estimate about this step taking "up to a minute" really depends on
the machine we're compiling on.  For example, on an old or underpowered
machine, it may take _longer_ than a minute.  So this patch changes the
wording accordingly and puts the reason for the delay at the beginning.
